Find palette

Use the Find palette to find entities in your model. Once you find the entity you are looking for, you can

• Double-click it in the Find palette to navigate to the entity in the model. When you double-click the entity, the default panel for the entity is displayed so that you can view or edit the entity's properties.
• Drag it into the Equation box on the Equation panel to define another entity's equation.
• Drag it into a box in the "Parameters" section of the Equation panel to define an entity's parameters.
• Drag it onto an input or output device such as tables, graphs, list input devices, knobs, etc.

To open the Find palette, choose Find from the Interface, Model, or Equation menu.

Note: The Find palette stays open while you work on the model until you close it by clicking in the Find palette.

When you first open the Find palette, it displays a list of all entities in the model. Use the options in the Find palette to narrow down the list to find the entity you are looking for.

Find

Type the first letter (or letters) of the name of the entity you want to find. The Find palette updates to display only those entities that match the letters you typed.

Show

Select the check boxes for the types of entities you want to include in the search: modules, stocks, flows, or converters. By default, the Find palette looks for all entities.

Order

Select the order in which you want the list of found items to be displayed:

• By module – Select this check box to list all entities within a module together. The entities will be ordered by type or in alphabetical order, according to the option you select (below). If you do not select this check box, modules and their entities appear in the list along with all other entities, in the sort order you selected (below).

  To see the entities in a module, click the "+" sign to the left of the module's name. To hide the list of the module's entities, click the "-" sign.

• By type – Select this option to list all entities in order of their type. The order is stocks, flows, converters, and modules. If you selected the By module check box, entities within a module appear beneath the module name, in type order.
• A-Z – Select this option to list all entities in alphabetical order, from A to Z. If you selected the By module check box, entities within a module appear beneath the module name, in alphabetical order.

Look in

Select the part of the model in which you want to find entities: Entire Model, Current Module Only, or Current and Contained Modules.
